Confidence - Lacking
Self worth - Unknown
Love - Searching
Another young lady lost
Camouflaged by the world
This is a sickness, A sickness it is
You must open your eyes to see
Because you, parents, possess the remedy
In her, confidence should never be lacking
From birth, the seed of knowledge
knowing there are no limits or stipulations of what she can achieve
Must be sown
The self-esteem issue
you thought was no big deal
usually follows them until they are grown
Give that needed reassurance
Let them know they are great and can do what ever they desire
when they come
And remember...
Also tell your son
To be a parent is a gift
And with this gift... comes great responsibility
Be greater parents than yours could ever be
Encourage your children to do the same
And Young Ladies
Believe your parents when they tell you these things
To sell yourself short
Will surely be a shame
Be Confident
You Are Beautiful, Intelligent young ladies
Your Self worth - Priceless
You are All of that, and All of that You are
When you feel that nobody cares, if, in life, you go far
And if you feel like a needle sinking in the snow
There is something you must know
Your parents are not the only ones capable to nurture
For that Love
LOOK NO FURTHER
I was inspired to write this poem by my daughter and the young girls that I teach. I try my best to boost my daughters self esteem, because I have noticed that she learns more easily when she is confident in her abilities. As parents, we must teach our daughters their self worth so that they will not sell themselves short in life. We should also give, show, and feed love until it is coming out of their ears. As long as we give it, they will not seek love in all of the wrong places.
ReplyDeleteVery nice Sherrie! Our teenage girls have the wrong role models these days. They see a fast life of cars, money and jewelry. The generation gap between parents and children is alot smaller so some parents are just growing up themselves!
ReplyDeleteI see the way that you interact with your little one and I'm impressed how she listens when you talk to her in a soft voice. I'm sure you'll be a good example to the young ladies you teach.
